
If you have become involved in social media (and if you haven’t, shame on you) you know that it can be difficult to keep track of all of your profiles and accounts. It becomes easy to spend way too much time on social media or, worse, not using it at all because of the potential time investment. What you need is a social media dashboard.
The one I recommend most strongly to my clients is Hootsuite.
Hootsuite allows you to update multiple networks in one step, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, WordPress.com and Ping.fm. It has a customizable interface that allows you to work efficiently with social streams, tabs and columns, and it enables you to schedule your updates so that you can choose the best time and date to reach your audience. Shorten your URLs with Hootsuite’s shrinking application. Track results in real-time with click-through statistics and easy report exporting.
You can monitor mentions of your brand, industry or other search terms. Use Hootsuite on your smart phone to schedule tweets and posts when you are on the go, or check in on Foursquare.
Hootsuite offers a basic free account which serves the needs of most of my clients, and a Pro account for $5.99 per month which offers you the opportunity to become one of their affiliates.
